OmniOne is the world's first blockchain-based FIDO applied DID (Decentralized IDentity) identity ecosystem that aims to experience and spread the most advanced and secure self-sovereign identity service using the OmniOne network components which are the User, Issuer and Service providers.
OmniOne Network is a permissioned decentralized identity MainNet that is combined with FIDO and blockchain technology for identity verification.
OmniOne Network participating node called OmniOne Node is a node that guarantees and verifies the reliabilities of the issued identity credential based on the Omni-ID that can be classified as Block Producers, Candidate Block Producers, Plain Node depending on the block creation.
The Issuer is the institution where it issues Verifiable Claim(VC) based on the Omni-ID which is a decentralized ID that OmniOne Network provides. The issuer is the institution where they can verify the user's identity via both face-to-face or non-face-to-face and should be issued the Omni-ID for issuers in the OmniOne Network. When issuing the Verifiable Claim, the issuer should include the value signed by the issuer's Omni-ID.
The Service Provider(SP) is a company that provides services based on the user's Omni-ID in the OmniOne ecosystem. SP can interact with the OmniOne Network to verify whether the Verifiable Claim submitted by the user is his/her own credential and whether that credential is a duly issued Verifiable Claim by a trusted issuer.
The User is an individual who provides and manages their own private information based on the Omni-ID. Each user can be distinguished by the Omni-ID and through the OmniOne Network anyone in the globe, regardless of the country, can freely request to issue a Verifiable Claim. Moreover, every private information regarding the Verifiable Claim will be securely stored and it will be accessible only to the user.
Consensus algorithm
The consensus algorithm of the OmniOne Network uses Proof of Authority(PoA) and Asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerance (aBFT). PoA is a reputation-based consensus algorithm that performs the block creation and verification through the selected node via trustable entities. PoA uses block producer's (BP) reputation instead of becoming BP by depositing the cryptocurrency. OmniOne team has selected the PoA as the consensus algorithm of the OmniOne network, judging that the possibility of a malicious attack cannot be completely ruled out even if the entity has a large deposit amount. Also, this may improve the suitability of BP selection by reflecting the opinions of an offline inspection or other members (BP, Issuer, SP) as well as relying solely on reputation.
FIDO
The OmniOne platform is a blockchain authentication platform that facilitates identity verification via FIDO and the OmniOne team holds PKI-based authentication technology and FIDO technology know-how. It complements the fact that the management of private keys for blockchain can be neglected with FIDO so the members can manage their personal keys at the level of FIDO Authenticator. In addition, the link between FIDO and DID allows FIDO to use the complementary advantage of replacing passwords with biometric authentication on the basis of the blockchain DID.
Ecosystem
Omni-ID is issued through direct interaction between the user and OmniOne Network. Verifiable Claim is issued by the issuer directly interacting with the OmniOne Network upon request by the user. Verifiable Claim submitted by the user is verified through the service provider and the OmniOne Network. As a result, all processes are implemented in a peer-to-peer manner, with no intervention by any intermediaries and no direct interaction between service providers and issuers. With this mechanism, the OmniOne truly forms a decentralized self-sovereign identity system.
